A team from Gower College Swansea has been named as runners-up at the National Schools Geology Challenge, organised by the prestigious Geological Society of London.

They were competing against Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, Sir William Borlase Grammar School, Bishop Wordsworth’s Grammar School, Wells Cathedral School and King Edward VI Grammar School.

The students - Hannah Collis (Captain), Alastair Evans, Daniel Peel, Dylan Roberts and Eleanor Tandy - had previously won the South Wales Schools Geology Challenge held at the Gorseinon campus.

"Wells Cathedral School was named as overall winners but we gave them a good run for their money, coming second by just a few marks," says Curriculum Leader for Geology / Environmental Studies Chris Walley. "The students were fantastic ambassadors for Gower College Swansea, attending the event as Welsh champions and performing extremely well on the day."
