A Gower College Swansea Plumbing student is celebrating after winning the Welsh final of the HIPEX Apprentice of the Year competition, beating 10 other competitors from across Wales.
Michael Kinsey, who is enrolled on a Level 2 Plumbing course at Tycoch, took the title at a recent event hosted by Yale College.
He was selected to represent Gower College Swansea at the Welsh final after an in-house competition held at Tycoch at the end of 2012 showed his considerable promise with pipework and radiators.
The next step for Michael is the UK final in Swindon on 14 May where he will be supported by his tutors Mike Morris and Clayton Spanswick.
“Michael is a fantastic ambassador for the college,” says Mike Morris. “He performed exceptionally well at the Welsh final and we are confident he will repeat that success once he reaches Swindon. Mike is a great student and is also progressing very well at his placement with Rhys Morris Plumbing and Heating in Swansea.”
