Gower College Swansea, in collaboration with the Swansea Grand Theatre, worked with eleven Primary Schools throughout the City and County of Swansea to produce two unforgettable “Primary Partners” shows at the Theatre.

The Primary Schools which appeared on Monday 8th July were Terrace Road, Sketty, Blaenymaes, Pontarddulais, Tre Uchaf and Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Lon Las.  The stage was taken on the following night by pupils of Parkland, Cwmrhydyceirw, Knelston, St Illtyd’s and Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Gellionen.

David Lloyd-Jones, the Learning Area Manager for the Creative Arts at the college, commented: “The college has a close working relationship with the Grand Theatre which has enabled us to provide a platform for Primary School pupils throughout the area to showcase their talent in a professional environment.  The excellent standard of performance by each school was a tribute to the hard work of the staff and pupils.”

Large audiences on both evenings were able to enjoy a variety of performance work, including excerpts from musicals, a range of dance styles, orchestral items and percussion music.

Paul Hopkins, the Programme, Marketing and Development Manager at the Swansea Grand Theatre, added:  “This is the third year that we have worked on this project.  It is immensely gratifying from the theatre’s perspective to see so many young people from the Swansea area get the opportunity to visit the theatre, see how it works, use the facilities and take away a great memory of performing at this venue in front of family, friends and supporters. We very much hope that we can repeat this very successful project again in 2014!”
