RNLI staff have successfully completed their Level 2 Certificate in Active Leisure, Learning and Well-Being Operational Services through GCS Training, the business training arm of Gower College Swansea.
Appropriately, the candidates were presented with their certificates on Langland Beach, just over a year since starting their programme.
The RNLI team worked hard over the season to complete units in:
- Supporting the work of the team and organisation
- Promoting health, safety and welfare
- Supporting equality and diversity
- Giving customer positive impressions
- Setting up, taking down and storing activity equipment
- Resolving customer service problems
- Supporting other team members in their work
Stuart Thompson, the RNLI Lifeguard Manager, commented: “David Horne, the GCS Training Assessor, has been a great help to all of us here throughout the duration of the course. He has put in a lot of work to support everyone and has done an excellent job.”
Kieran Hennah, who was receiving his certificate, also appreciated the support he received: “David has been very helpful throughout and came to the beach on a number of occasions to help me with areas that I found difficult. David's patience provided much-needed support.”
In addition to the NVQ in Active Leisure, GCS Training also offers NVQ qualifications in Travel and Tourism and Customer Service, including a one day ‘WorldHost’ Principles of Customer Service Certificate, which helps new staff get quickly up to speed.
