Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Hope Vaughan-Hughes ar ddod yn drydydd yng nghystadleuaeth Unawd Chwythbrennau dan 19 oed yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yr Urdd, Y Bala, Meirionydd.

Ar ôl codi’n gynnar fore Gwener 30 Mai aeth Hope a’i theulu, Dorothy ei chyfeilyddes ac Anna Davies, Hyrwyddwr Dwyieithrwydd y coleg, draw i’r rhagbrofion ar gaeau’r ŵyl ger y Bala.  Roedd 14 cystadleuydd wedi cyrraedd y rhagbrofion, a daeth Hope a dwy arall at y llwyfan.

Rydym yn falch iawn o lwyddiant Hope, sydd â’i bryd ar fynd i astudio Cerddoriaeth ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd ym mis Medi.  Hi yw’r myfyriwr cyntaf o Goleg Gŵyr Abertawe i gyrraedd y llwyfan mewn cystadleuaeth yn Eisteddfod yr Urdd, a gobeithiwn fod Hope wedi gosod sylfaen i’n myfyrwyr eraill gystadlu yn y dyfodol.

Os ydych am glywed Hope yn perfformio ei darn ewch yma, a dewis dydd Gwener, a chystadleuaeth rhif 219 am 12:55pm.

Congratulations to Hope Vaughan-Hughes for coming third in the Under 19 Woodwind Solo competition at the National Urdd Eisteddfod in Bala, Meirionydd.

After getting up early on Friday 30th May, Hope and her family, her accompanist Dorothy, and Anna Davies the college Bilingualism Champion went to the pre-liminary on the festival ground near Bala.  There were 14 competitors at the pre-liminary, and Hope and two others appeared on stage.

We are very proud of Hope’s success. Hope has her sights set at studying Music at Cardiff University in September. She is the first student from Gower College Swansea to reach the stage in a competition at the Urdd Eisteddfod.  We hope that Hope has set a foundation for our other students to compete in the future.

If you would like to hear Hope’s performance go here, and choose Friday, competition number 219 at 12.55pm.
