Gower College Swansea has held a Healthy Lifestyle Week, providing taster exercise sessions, information and healthy food for students and staff.
Zumba and Yoga sessions were held at Gorseinon whilst the Sports Centre at Tycoch offered free exercise classes in Body Sculpt, Pilates, Spin, Kettleballs and Fight Fit! The Tycoch campus also hosted a Healthy Lifestyle Fair during the week, with a range of organisations participating, including InfoNation, Healthy Eating, the Police, 360 Watersports, YMCA, Mind Cymru, the Terrence Higgins Trust and the Broadway Hair, Beauty and Holistics Centre.
Anne Pitman, the college’s Learner Services Manager, commented: “There was an excellent up-take for all the fitness taster sessions and students enjoyed trying out different types of exercise in order to find what suited them best. The Healthy Lifestyle Fair attracted crowds of students and staff who tucked into the tasty samples of healthy food. They also took advantage of the opportunity to speak to the various stall-holders for information on how to keep safe and stay healthy. Few could resist the giant hula hoops, with varying degrees of success!”
